Cosmic Orbit February

February: Uniting Opposites: HA & ṬHA
This month, our group class series will focus on this union ~ the yoga of two aspects. The āsana become moments of focused prayer, allowing the nectar to flow within us. By mapping the physical and subtle body through the āsana, we will allow HA and ṬHA to meet at the center: the spine. Healing, essential, and practical practices from the Tantra tradition will gradually lead us to silence and the opening of the spiritual ear to the: I AM.

Written February Cosmic Orbit:
You might have noticed that from the previous month, we began opening our spiritual ear (Śravaṇā) towards ourselves, so that we do not express our personal opinion in order for the Truth to be revealed. The same energy continues throughout February, inviting us to deepen within ourselves, into silence or sacred words, vocabulary, inner space, giving more room for spiritual study and listening to what is important for our personal evolution, the evolution of our soul. We avoid conflicts and problems that may arise in our relationships due to the way we use our speech, the way we express ourselves and what we express. So, from the beginning to the end of February, we deepen and pay attention to our speech. We practice silence as much as we can, or for those of you who can, start practicing Mauna (the discipline of silence). If possible, try to be silent and calm for a few hours each day. These practices help us think and rethink what we are about to say, how we will say it, why we are saying it, to whom we are saying it, when we are saying it, the words we use, and the tone we use. All these are practices of Pratyāhāra (control of our senses). We observe how we can better express ourselves and the truth instead of our opinion. Our goal is to discover and come even closer to the Truth, without our personal opinion, beliefs, ideas, perceptions, or anything else that colors our perception and makes it difficult to perceive the Truth. And Truth is common for all. It is a way this month to avoid conflicts, maintaining our practice, either in Mauna or limited Mauna, and opening up to our inner listening (Śravaṇā) to hear what we truly express.
This is the month when we are called to bring the two aspects into union, alignment, unity: the masculine and the feminine. The characteristic of the masculine energy will be intense, meaning action, strength, vitality, extroversion, impulsiveness, anger, movement, aggression, competition, action, and reaction. But at the same time, we will also have the harmony of the feminine energy: beauty, sensuality, creativity, aesthetics, harmony, all the characteristics of femininity. Thus, within this month, the theme of our PRACTICE is on ha and ṭha, which is the harmony between the Lunar and Solar energy. The Whole is expressed between the two aspects. So, during the month, we harmonize these two aspects, both of which will have the intensity of excess. The masculine side may exaggerate in action, being impulsive, reactive, angry, with excessive movement, and excessive speed, which can bring aggression and cultivate competition. We can see this through our speech, in the way we express ourselves, through our words, the sound we make, our mouth, or our hands, because we also express ourselves through our hands. Our hands are connected to the chest, to the lungs, which is why we can balance intense action with the help of Pranayama (breathing practices) that you have learned. The feminine aspect, in its excess, can express excessive sensuality, and excessive relaxation, which often brings lethargy. We balance this with essential oils from flowers, drinking plenty of water infused with flower herbs like geranium, rose, chamomile, etc. You can use fragrances (non-toxic of course) that have a floral aroma so that you can cultivate balance in the feminine aspect through your senses. You can also use massage oils for the chest, hands, and breasts. Enrich them with some flower essential oil to enhance Prana, which is the quality of vital energy received from the air. We also look at what we express through our hands during this period. If we think carefully, we create many things with our hands, essentially building and creating a whole world through the way we express our hands. We express ourselves with our hands. Therefore, we pay attention to how we will communicate and what we will build with the communication we express through our hands. And this is because there will be a tendency for fanaticism, which brings extremity and conflict. Extremity and conflict create difficulty in deepening, making it harder to look within ourselves correctly.
Our call is to keep our spiritual ear open. We will struggle if we place particular emphasis on our personal opinions, which can bring fanaticism, extremity, and conflict. Keep more Mauna whenever you realize you are about to express your opinion, either in writing or in reaction. Think and rethink, restrain yourself. You will do much more good for yourself and others. It will help you practice your spiritual ear even better. Continuously expressing and stating your own personal opinion is nothing more than an expression of the ego. You can simply restrain yourself to see what you perceive from within yourself, from your depth. Our opinion has nothing to do with the Truth. And think about it for a moment: you can meet a friend who does good deeds, but your opinions are completely different. What matters more to you? Will you judge the person opposite you by their opinion and beliefs, or will you evaluate them by their actions, their attitude towards life, how they behave towards life, and their behavior towards you? Ask small children how they know if someone is good. Most of them will surely not tell you that they listen to their opinion and if their opinion matches theirs, then they are good. Most children will answer that they understand because the person does good things, behaves well towards them, and is kind. Small children have the ability to see Truth, to see beyond their personal opinion.
This month is the month of introspection. Engage with yourself, and while engaging with yourself, your home, the space of your home, and your family and stay more indoors. It is a good time to turn to and engage with inner and higher knowledge, some form of higher knowledge (such as the lessons we do together). Open your inner ear to be able to connect the pieces of the puzzle and create direction within your inner space. View your life with more wisdom, shedding as many of your opinions as possible.
Go back a bit to the previous months and see where life is guiding you, what you have been dealing with, what knowledge you have acquired, what decisions you have made, etc. What has your life brought you? The last few months have shown us what we are ready to move forward with and in which direction. What therapies may we need to add to our lives in order to deepen? And since we are dealing with the mouth and speech, see if you need to apply any other therapies that you may have done in the past and that helped you with the mouth, voice, and ears (perhaps speech therapy, dental treatments, voice, throat, tinnitus, etc).
Organize and make a nice plan for your spiritual path, your relationships with your teachers, your relationships with your children. Organize your food, which we take through the mouth. Your spiritual practice and how you listen and understand when your teachers and healers speak or teach. Also here in what I share with you all: observe how you listen and what you decide to hear.
You may need to engage with your maternal side, whether you are mothers or not. If wounds concerning your mother are coming to the surface, consider turning to the Greater Mother in any form you feel is close to you. Not to replace your natural mother, but healing for the wounds can be achieved by turning to the Higher Mother. Take care of the wound and offer it to your relationship with the Greater Mother, the Great feminine energy you see as a mother. Also, look at your own aspect as a mother and how you offer support and security. In order to be a support and security for children, we need to create a solid foundation. To have a solid foundation, we need to have stability and balance. Of course, we are human beings who continue to evolve, learn through mistakes, but if we keep balance in our role as mothers and keep in mind that the great blessing given to us by become mothers is to be able to sustain SUPPORT AND SECURITY, then we can more easily find the means and ways to achieve it.
Enjoy your month with introspection and balance!
With care,
Marilena
