Upāya ~ February Remedies

We are under the influence of the spiritual ear, so it is good time to take care of the way we communicate and why we do that, with whom, why and how. Take care of the opinion of others and create a safe space for them, that is more important than to speak your opinion. The discipline of speech is much more important than your opinion, speculations and reactions. Think what you express with your hands and mouth. All express an opinion, think before your will say anything and think if it is needed to do so. Use your breath in order to give flow to the inner energy, and that will attuned you to what’s needed.

Anandmayi Ma once told ‘Bhaiji’, “If you desire to observe real silence, your heart and mind must fuse so closely, into one thought that your whole nature, inwardly and outwardly may freeze, as it were, into the condition of an inert stone. But if you merely want to abstain from speech, it is a different matter altogether.”

Mauna is considered a powerful tool for self-discipline, introspection, and spiritual growth. By maintaining silence, practitioners can calm their minds, focus inward, and develop greater awareness and mindfulness. It is believed that mauna helps in purifying thoughts, reducing mental chatter, and fostering a deeper connection with the inner self and the divine.

In the tradition of Yoga we have the four type of conversation:

  1. Vāda: This is a constructive debate where the aim is to discover the truth. Both parties are open-minded, and the goal is mutual enlightenment. It is usually between seers.
  2. Jalpa: This is a debate where each party is more interested in winning the argument rather than finding the truth. The focus is on defeating the opponent, often using logical fallacies or rhetoric. It is usually between fanatics.
  3. Vitaṇḍā: This is a destructive debate where the main intention is to criticize and dismantle the opponent’s arguments without providing any alternative or constructive viewpoint. It is usually between contrarians.
  4. Saṃvāda: Communication of intelligence,  conformity, correspondence, sameness. It is a dialogue with love and care, respect and understanding. It is usually between teacher & student.

Take your time to organise your daily routine and good daily habits aiming your spirituality. Write down your daily schedule of the DO and in this list add the SPIRITUAL LIST of actions and practices that create GOOD HABITS such as:

  • time to sleep and wake up
  • time you eat brekfast / lunch / dinner
  • what you will be eating
  • time to make your daily yogic practices / together we can make your yogic daily practice routine / what we call Sādhanā in yoga
  • bed time routine to south your nervous system and help yourself for the rest and digest period of divine sleep

You can spend time near water, snow, spring or waterfall in nature. Nourish your feelings and self-love near water. play with kids, or make time to play in a meaningful way.

During the practical classes many times I have taught the self massage practices for feet, simple practice that you can do every night in order to relax yourself, ground yourself and have nice sleep. We will do that again during the practice in groups and you can do that at home. Use almond oil or any other base pure oil with few drops of flower essential oil for this month and massage.
